George Manning thoroughly searched my yard, catch basin, drain areas, under the back porch, kitchen and the suspected crawlspace under it for areas where the mice were entering and where they were living. He assured me I didn't have rats and baited the crawlspace and told me what to watch for. He also offered further services after the mice were all eliminated to keep other mice out in the future. His price includes a 3 month guarantee.
George Manning is the company's owner and an entomologist. He came the day I called. He is a very knowledgeable person and does not rush through the job. He was very thorough and was great with my dogs and made everything safe for them. (Like baiting only in areas inaccessible to them.) George makes a disturbing thing like having mice not quite as disgusting since he knows so much about how to get rid of them safely. I used him once before when Orkin said I had a termite infestation. George said I had had termites in the past but didn't at that time, saving me a lot of trouble and money.

Part of the siding on our dormer was torn off during a storm. Several squirrels got into the attic. Several other companies we called would not come out because of the building height (3 floors). George Manning, the owner, sent a crew out the next day. They got rid of all the squirrels within 3 days by using a device called the ''Eliminator''; it allows squirrels to go out during the day to gather food but does not allow them to get back in. Other pest control companies usually set traps, catch them, and take them away. Squirrels are very territorial and usually return. This new method prevents that. George was extremely knowledgeable and followed up later to ensure everything was in order.

A few particularly rainy weeks ago, when raccoons ripped, dug & ate their way through parts of my roof, I had a problem and a bad leak. It was clear they were looking to bunk down for the winter in a den they were building in my roof. Good news came in the form of American Eagle Pest Elimination. They arrived within a few days of my phone call, checking in with me as the weather and their schedule permitted. They seemed knowledgeable, professional and courteous.
The morning of the first availability, owner George Manning called to see if he could send a crew that afternoon. The two men inspected the perimeter of the house, including the roof top, gutters & flashing. They found two holes the raccoons were using, as well as hair and other souvenirs. They installed a radio on a motion device which is meant to frighten (or annoy?) the raccoons into abandoning the dens they made in my roof. The device will remain in place two weeks or so until the roof gets repaired. I also appreciated the photos they took of the roof and the raccoon damage. I can now share those with my insurance company.

Treated for 3 different kinds of ants; colonies made their home in our house and the pavement ants were the hardest to eradicate or eliminate. Baited in key locations where ants were spotted and baited all throughout the basement. The results were very good! I did not see ants for a long time, but started to spot the pavements ants again. George came back out with his crew for a follow-up visit. The follow-up visit seemed to do the trick as we have not seen the ants. George and his team are very knowledgeable and expert at eliminating the problem. I learned a great deal in a short amount of time. Don't use spray to kill the ants! It makes the problem worse. The key is to get to the nest and attack the reproductive source...the queen. If I see an ant, I am calling George immediately.

My phone call with George was a delight! He diagnosed the problem over the phone and then taught me all about the construction of my home (and Chicago homes in general), the neighborhood, squirrels, mice, and other things. We also chatted politics and discussed my homeland; George is a renaissance man! When the crew arrived to do the work they were very professional and seemed on top of things. They told me how much the work would be based on their inspection, which was higher than I had expected based on my phone call with George so they lowered the price to within the range estimated over the phone (even though the phone estimate was non-binding and I knew it). The work was completed quickly and ever since that night we have had no squirrel problems. I hope I do not have to take advantage of the one year warranty, but it's nice to know I have it.

George Manning is very well qualified entomologist and does excellent work. Although there were no termites in the house we were inspecting, he found other insects in the basement and could explain why they were there, which indicated possible problems with moisture and also problems with the drainage system as well. These problems were then confirmed by a general home inspection. Because of this inspection, we were able to better evaluate whether we wanted to purchase the home and pay for the repairs. This is not the first time we used American Eagle. We had a rodent problem in a previous home. George was able to identify the problem, determine the solution and we successfully eliminated the problem with one visit. We will continue to call George in the future because he does an excellent job and is reasonably priced. He will never ask you to sign a contract for continuing service. He will find the problem and fix it.

We had a problem with rats entering our building and had tried poisoning to get rid of them. This had only temporary success. We called American Eagle who first performed an analysis of of the building in order to locate the source of the rats. This involved camera work of the sewer system. This camera work showed several places where the sewer line had breaks in it which would allow rats to enter the space under the building. The camera work also showed rat activity so we knew in advance this the sewers were the source of the rat problem. Work began on schedule and continued for almost a week. It involved extensive excavation beneath the building and the rebuilding of the sewer line where the camera work had shown the breaks in the sewer line. The repair work was very professional, unlike the original work that had been done by the original contractors who had connected the new sewer lines about 12 years ago when we rehabbed the building. Places where the pipes were joined were permanently sealed. In addition the employees kept us advised all through the process of the work they were doing and also showed us evidence of rat activity.

George found additional termite damage, but concluded that it likely occurred years ago, because he didn't find evidence of recent activity. However, he said that the only way to know for sure would be to return in the spring, when termites are most active and do another inspection. Luckily, the termites had done minor damage and it was easily repairable. Aside from the termites, which was the main reason we hired him, George had great advice for our rehab on simple ways to limit pests, especially rats. In fact, this might end up being the most valuable service he provided us. I would recommend anyone who is doing extensive work on their house to consult with George on how to keep pests at bay. George suggested simple things to do, especially regarding the plumbing, that will go a long way to keeping rodents out of our house. Thank you, George!

The receptionist for American Eagle is very friendly and was able to answer preliminary questions for me. Their treatment is non-toxic, which I needed since there were several children and a pregnant woman living in the building. The serviceman, Rick, was equally friendly and explained the process to me and the tenants. In addition, he translated some information to my tenants totally unrelated to the extermination process. I had recently bought the property, they were moving out, and we had a serious language barrier! He did this graciously. I really appreciate him taking the time to do that. I did not see any cockroaches after the first treatment, but I still scheduled the follow-up appointment just to be on the safe side and since it was included in the price. I did find two cockroaches immediately after that, but have not had any since(it's been a month now)and none appeared in either of the 3 traps Rick set up. Perhaps they were the last of the bunch, either way they're gone now.

I used George's services about 5-6 years ago to eliminate squirrels in the attic and mice everywhere. At that time they did a very professional, extensive, and thorough job repairing the mouse entry points. They replaced drain tiles in the basement and installed one-way exit doors for the squirrels. The squirrels haven't been back, but the mice returned last year. Because of some communications problems, I didn't use George's services last year--big mistake, as the company I did use didn't really eradicate the mice. This year I contacted George. His technician came out, inspected for mouse entry and activity points, and put out some apparently very effective bait.
I e-mailed the company (because of my job I'm hard to reach by phone) and heard back from both George and Maria promptly. George remembered our job from 5-6 years ago, apologized for last year's miscommunication, was eager to remedy the mouse relapse. Maria called the next day to set up a visit from Rick, but it didn't work on my end. Rick came out right on schedule the following week, did a careful inspection for mouse activity, and placed bait. He said he didn't find evidence of a lot of mouse activity, told me what to expect, and offered return service in 30 days, for an additional fee, which he was quite clear about. I haven't seen any mice since except for one very dead one in the hall. Maria called about a month later to see if we were satisfied with the service.
